Our firm, Malkoun & Co Lawyers, was established in early 2010 and is based in the Melbourne legal district. The Principal of our firm, Anthony Malkoun, oversees the practice which operates primarily in criminal law, conveyancing and civil litigation.
Our firm is comprised of a small group of professionals who are committed to obtaining the best possible outcome at a reasonable
cost and within the shortest possible timeframe.
Our team prides itself on providing spirited representation and further ensuring that our clients gain a rich understanding of their legal position and rights. Where required our firm engages barristers to assist in our clients’ proceedings, using our experience to brief appropriately qualified counsel.

Anthony graduated in 2004, having obtained an Arts/Law degree at the University of Tasmania. He was then articled to Eric Vadarlis of Vadarlis & Associates in late 2004 and was later admitted to practice on 14 February 2006 on the motion of Dr. Gavan Griffith AO QC. He continued in
the employ of Vadarlis & Associates until he established Malkoun & Co Lawyers in early 2010.
Whilst in the employ of Vadarlis & Associates Anthony gained a broad experience in a variety of matters from pro bono appeals to the High Court of Australia through to the most modest suburban property transactions. Regardless of the nature of the matter, Anthony operates on the premise the each file is equally important to the client. Anthony Malkoun is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Shane graduated from Deakin University in 2003 with a Bachelor Degree in Computing and has since expanded his working knowledge to a wide variety of business, advertising and property related roles.
Having spent 8 years as a senior analyst manager at a prominent advertising firm, Shane has since turned his keen ability to master processes and complex business transactions to the practice of conveyancing and acts as Malkoun & Co Lawyers’ Conveyancing Manager.
He prides himself on offering a personalised customer experience and ensuring that each of his clients are comfortable that they are dealing with a dedicated individual who wants to ensure that their best interests are put first and foremost.
Thea graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business from La Trobe University. She was admitted to legal practice on 29 April 2014 after completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law. From August 2009 to June 2012 Thea worked one day a week as a volunteer for Victoria Legal Aid at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court. She has also completed volunteer work at Moonee Valley Legal Service and Glenister & Co Business Lawyers.
Prior to commencing employment at Malkoun & Co Lawyers, she completed a clerkship with Ascot Solicitors. Thea is focussed on building client rapport and providing service at a high level. She is very enthusiastic about continuing to develop her legal skills and even moreso in applying them.
Thea is also a qualified violinist having obtained grade certification from the Australian Music Examinations Board. She is also fluent is writing and speaking the Greek language.
Thea is mentored by Dr. Gavan Griffith AO QC.

Our firm regularly defends both summary and indictable charges on behalf of our clients.
We also make applications for bail where required, including appeals to the Supreme Court of Victoria where bail has been refused.
Our firm selectively engages tried and tested barristers and QC’s where necessary. Malkoun and Co Lawyers also make and oppose applications for Intervention
Malkoun & Co Lawyers has a dedicated conveyancing service
to assist with buying, selling and refinancing property.
Our services include:
• Providing all of our conveyancing clients a free risk assessment and unlimited advice in relation to any purchase or sale contract;
• Preparing Contracts of Sale of Land and Vendor's Disclosure Statements;
• Conducting thorough property information searches in relation
to our clients’ sale or purchase
• Preparing all documents necessary for the completion of the conveyancing transaction and all other services incidental to completion of settlement of the sale and purchase of property.
Our firm provides a Will preparation services, whereby Wills personalised to each of our clients’ circumstances are prepared to ensure our clients’ legacy is fulfilled. Our firm also commonly prepares “mutual wills”, whereby spouses can each mutually make provision for each other and their loved ones.
We also prepare carefully drafted Powers of Attorney to assist our clients in the management of their financial and medical affairs, whether present or in future. The Powers of Attorney prepared to commence at
a present or future date, and can further have a broad scope or be
in relation to discreet and specific matters.
Prior to commencing any Court proceeding our firm ensures that our clients have exhausted all available options reasonably open to them other than litigation.
Our firm litigates on behalf of Plaintiffs and Defendants in a
range of matters including:
• claims for recovery of debts
• breach of contract;
• misleading and deceptive conduct;
• and other matters.
Litigation is conducted strictly in accordance with the overarching obligations prescribed by the Civil Procedure Act 2010 (Vic).
